**WHAT IS ARM ON WINDOWS (AOW)?**

ARM on Windows refers to the Microsoft Windows operating system running on an ARM-architecture processor instead of a conventional Intel or AMD x86 processor.

ARM processors are widely used in smartphones and mobile devices because they offer excellent energy efficiency, low heat generation, fanless operation and longer battery life. Windows 11 on ARM combines these mobile advantages with the familiar Windows environment.

Many native ARM64 Windows applications run directly, while Windows 11 can emulate numerous conventional x86 and x64 applications. However, specialised industrial software, USB accessories and communication interfaces must be checked for ARM64 driver compatibility.
